The impact of the Coronavirus pandemic has been felt across all sectors. However, the options available to employers to respond to this threat vary greatly from industry to industry. While professional service firms have largely been able to switch en masse to homeworking, many other companies have been unable to do so and have tended to opt for a combination of furlough and ‘business as usual’. At the same time, restricted cash flow has meant difficult decisions have had to be taken. As we look forward to the end of the current lockdown, and to the scaling back of Government financial support initiatives including the extended furlough scheme, business leaders are now preparing themselves for staff to return to work.
